NBCC contigent watch Holland beat England at Wembley
Over 65 guests attending the NBCC football event at Wembley on 29 March watched the England-Holland friendly match earlier this week.
England was sent crashing back to earth as they followed up last week’s win in Germany with a 2-1 defeat to Holland at Wembley. Jamie Vardy put England 1-0 up four minutes before half-time as the hosts stirred following a slow start. The Dutch visitors, who have not qualified for Euro 2016, pulled level five minutes after the break, when Vincent Janssen levelled with a penalty kick after a Danny Rose handball. Substitute Luciano Narsingh then scored a controversial winner following an assumed foul.
Prior to the match, the guests gathered in the adjacent Hilton Wembley hotel where a network reception and buffet was organised by NBCC. Various speakers at the event included representatives of the Johan Cruyff foundation who spoke about the good work of the foundation which will be continued with even greater inspiration following the sad demise of the greatest football player in Dutch history last week. During a pub-quiz type competition two special prizes, signed gloves of Dutch goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen and a signed shirt of Dutch team captain Daley Blind, were handed out to guests who showed most up to date knowledge on previous England-Holland games.
A number of NBCC corporate members were in attendance at the event with their clients and NBCC is pleased to note the enthusiasm of its members for this type special sports related events.
