On Tuesday 7 January 2014 NBCC Chairman Anton Valk was awarded a CBE which was presented to him by Sir Geoffrey Adams, the British Ambassador to the Netherlands.
The CBE was awarded to Mr Valk by Her Majesty the Queen for his contribution to British business, his commitment to improving the public transport system in the United Kingdom and his continued personal commitment and dedication to furthering Anglo-Dutch commercial relations.
Speaking ahead of the presentation, Mr Valk said:
I’m honoured to receive this award to which the dedication and creativity of my former team at Abellio has contributed so much. As CEO I have always felt very welcome in the UK and I was delighted to be able to contribute to the renaissance in public transport over the past 10 years. Both countries have much to offer to each other not only in business but also in culture and science and I look forward to continue my commitment to Anglo-Dutch cooperation.
In August 2013 he was elected as Chairman of the Netherlands British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC), an organisation that exclusively concentrates on promoting and stimulating bilateral trade between the UK and the Netherlands.
Mr Valk has been a member of the Apeldoorn Conference Steering Board since 2008 and has played a large part in the continued success of the bilateral conference series. He is also recognised for services to the UK – NL Strategic Business Dialogue, a platform that brings together British and Dutch government and business with the aim of identifying further opportunities for trade and investment.
