UK's Oil & Gas PILOT Share Fair in Aberdeen on 4 November 2015 was the main event around the two day NBCC trade mission for Dutch suppliers to the oil and gas industry. The mission, organised by the NBCC in conjunction with the Dutch suppliers trade association IRO, was organised to introduce the Dutch delegation to the latest UK oil & gas business development opportunities and future project development plans of operators & contractors. The mission also aimed to enable the participants to meet potential customers, gather market intelligence and share information.
Following meetings with Aker Solutions, Paragon Offshore and Fugro Survey on the day of arrival, the delegation participated in the Share Fair on the following day of the mission. The Share Fair event is now regarded as the foremost business development event in the UK oil and gas industry calendar and offers the sector significant benefits including:
- Delivering reliable market intelligence to keep the industry abreast of business opportunities.
- Providing a two-way information sharing opportunity through one-to-one sessions between major purchasers and suppliers and via networking sessions which provide the opportunity for delegates to meet potential new clients as well as strengthen relationships with existing customers.
- Delivering information to outline good practice in supply chain management to support the principles of the industry’s Supply Chain Code of Practice
This unique one day event is aimed to improve the quality and quantity of information available to suppliers on the forward activity plans of operators and major contractors. Better information on future projects benefits both operators and the supply chain as it helps to create an informed and competitive market where there can be more responsive and timely delivery of key equipment, expertise and personnel. New for 2015, Share Fair also offered the opportunity for presenting companies to identify and share current efficiency challenges facing their businesses, allowing attending delegates to identify and raise awareness of any potential solutions or mechanisms that could help unlock the full potential of the UKCS.
This year’s Share Fair attracted 10 presenting companies, most of them leading players.
A total of 20 Aberdeen based companies participated in the excellent one-to-one speed dating sessions. NBCC/IRO were among the 50 exhibitors who showcased their services/capabilities during the Share Fair.
The Dutch companies participating in the mission represented products ranging from steel structures to water treatment solutions. A full list of trade mission participants can be downloaded here.
The Dutch trade mission for suppliers to the oil and gas sector to the UK is an annual event organised by IRO and NBCC and is part of the range of activities that the NBCC has planned around the energy sector, which is high on the priority list. Further trade missions will be organised in the remainder of 2015 and 2016 also on offshore wind and other renewables. We will continue informing our members and clients in detail about these events in the coming months.
