Close to 100 guests attended the Annual Dinner on 1 December 2015 in the magnificent Groote Industriele Club in Amsterdam. The event was being organised jointly with the Professional Accountants in Europe (PAiE) and the UK Trade and Investment Department of the British Embassy in The Hague and reflects the continuing good working relationships between NBCC and like-minded groups in the Netherlands, which we believe are of mutual benefit to the respective organisations and their members.
Among the many guests were the British Ambassador Sir Geoffrey Adams who addressed the audience during the dinner. Introductions and words of welcome were also made by Anton Valk, Chairman of the NBCC and Stephen Huyton, Chairman of the Netherlands chapter of PAiE.
The other guests of honour were Wim Thomas, Chief Energy Adviser of Royal Dutch Shell and Ronald Eikelenboom, Member of the Board and CFO of the Lely Group based in Maassluis near Rotterdam, who both addressed the guests during the evening on highly topical issues. Wim Thomas spoke about aspects of the journey from fossil fuel to renewables and consider how business, society and individuals can stay resilient while Ronald lifted the Lely lid just a little on “how to grow in difficult times”.
The many members of the two organising bodies attending the event were provided with ample networking opportunities during the pre-dinner network reception.
