Successful NBCC trade mission on Offshore Wind to the UK
Using the RenewableUK conference Global Offshore Wind in Manchester on 21 and 22 June 2016 as the backdrop the NBCC has organised a successful trade mission to the United Kingdom for Dutch companies operating in the offshore wind sector.
With more installed offshore wind capacity installed in the UK than in the rest of the world combined, the offshore wind sector offers promising opportunities for Dutch companies who have a wealth of experience in engineering projects in water.
Twelve Dutch companies representing a vast range of specialisations and expertise in the offshore wind sector, joined the NBCC on the three day programme.
A full list of profiles of the participating Dutch companies can be accessed here.
On the first day of the mission, match-making meetings were organised by the NBCC for the Dutch delegates with leading companies in the British offshore wind market such as Babcock International, Ramboll and RWE.
Alongside the matchmaking programme, the mission offered an opportunity for the delegates to visit the Global Offshore Wind Convention and Exhibition.
The delegation also joined a number of local sectoral social events such as the network reception organised at the end of the first day of the Conference. Most of the Dutch company representatives also participated in the Share Fair event, during which major developers such as Siemens, MHI Vestas and Babcock International Group presented their future plans and supply chain requirements. The delegation participated in a market update session with the East of England Energy Group and Team Humber Marine Alliance.
On the second day of the mission, the delegation participated in a Floating Foundations seminar, organised by the Royal Netherlands Embassy London and TKI-Wind op Zee. At the end of the day, part of the delegation travelled to Liverpool to join the Dong Energy for a boat ferry to take a look at the Burbo Bank Wind Park extension.
The various events offered the participants useful networking possibilities and potential access to tremendous business opportunities in a market which is expected to grow substantially in the years to come.
The various presentations delivered during the programme are available to NBCC members. Please contact us here to make your enquiry.
The NBCC will be hosting a series of trade missions to the UK in the remainder of 2016 and beyond. These will be dedicated to selected sectors such as offshore wind energy, cycling, oil and gas and food and drink for which good commercial opportunities are perceived in the UK market.
