NBCC Brexit Dinner at the British Residence

14-11-2016

2016-11-14

On Sept 29th, we had the honour to welcome our Premier Members at the Residence of the British Ambassador to The Netherlands for our first NBCC Brexit Dinner.

This event was the first initiative of the new NBCC Brexit Forum, the front-line platform exclusive to Premier NBCC Members where experts share relevant information with key stakeholders and change agents, and Premier Members make their concerns and priorities heard and understood by policy makers.

We were very honoured that the British Ambassador Sir Geoffrey Adams, Guido Landheer, James Knightley and Robert van der Jagt accepted our invitation to speak. James Knightley, Senior Economist UK at ING opened the evening with a macro-economic overview of Brexit. This was followed by Robert van der Jagt, Chairman of KPMG’s EU Tax Centre, who provided a tax perspective on Brexit.

After the dinner, we were given a fascinating address by Guido Landheer, Deputy Director General Foreign Economic Relations at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs who presented the Dutch government position towards Brexit. Sir Geoffrey Adams, proceeded with a UK Government perspective on Brexit.

The evening ended with a Q & A during which NBCC Members could ask questions to Sir Geoffrey Adams and Guido Landheer and share their priorities and concerns.

The NBCC is grateful to the events main sponsor KPMG for their support during this special evening. We also would like to thank the Hotel de l’Europe for contributing delightful goodie bags to this event.

Given the importance of the topic and the impact it will most likely continue to have on business in the coming year, we will continue with Brexit guidance activities such as quarterly Brexit Dinners for our Premier Members. Keep a close eye on our website and our newsletter for the latest info on the events. We look forward to speaking with many of you at one of our upcoming NBCC events!
