EVENT REVIEW: East of England welcomes NBCC activity

More than 40 NBCC members and other guests gathered together at an NBCC event organised on 20 October 2017 in Norwich and coinciding with the 2-day visit of the Netherlands Ambassador Simon Smits to the region.

Saxon Air, one of the event partners and host of the first of a series of meetings, flew in the Dutch Ambassador and NBCC management/board from the University of East Anglia by helicopter, following which the guests were taken round for a tour at the premises of Saxon Air and Oranje Nassau Energy, an originally Dutch energy company.

After lunch the guests were transported to the KLM Engineering operations where they had an exciting "behind the scenes"-tour at the maintenance and repair operations carried out by KLM Engineering on aircrafts from all over the world. The event finished with a guided tour at the Norwich based Aviation Academy.

The NBCC event also nicely coincided with the launch of the local Rembrandt exhibition at the Castle Museum in Norwich that same evening, officially opened by the Dutch Ambassador, who reflected on the close historic links between the Netherlands and the east of England, where several centuries ago, a quarter of the population was Dutch.

The NBCC member event in Norwich is a reflection of the NBCC's ambition to also actively engage its members in the regions in the UK. While the majority of NBCC's UK membership is based in and around London, the NBCC notices that there is a growing interest in closer links between the Netherlands and the UK countrywide and the event programme of the NBCC in the coming years will take this into account.
